What are the key issues for stone fabricators?

We recently published a survey to stone fabricators in the UK, Ireland, North America, in which we reached out to understand the main priorities for the stone industry this year. The results gave a clear picture of the pressures that stone fabricators are facing and where they might need support in 2026.

3 key issues stood out above the rest:

  1. Rising costs – 57.1%
  2. Health & Safety (silicosis/HAVS/noise levels etc) – 52.4%
  3. Material quality and inconsistency – 42.9%

57.1% of responses selected rising costs as one of their top 3 factory concerns. Materials and labour, energy prices and consumables costs can all stack up. We can help you make small changes to deliver savings over time. These include solutions such as saving money on CNC setup with Optimo, cutting delivery costs with On-Demand Pro, and reducing machine downtime with longer-life tools.

For the 52.4% of respondents who selected Health & Safety as a fabrication issue, we can help you stay up to date – with dust management solutions, PPE packages, our Safe In Stone campaign, products designed to reduce manual handling and practical training delivered in our Innovation Hub

42.9% of responses flagged that material quality and inconsistency was also a concern. Cheaper materials accelerate tool wear, cause chipping and lead to costly breakages. Our technicians can help you select the right tooling for each material, optimise feeds, speeds and water, and visit your factory to get tooling set up correctly..

Thank you again to everyone who took part in our survey. The response was fantastic, and our winner is Peter Kozan from Obsidian Quartz who will be receiving a £50 Amazon voucher very soon!
